There have been a ton of exciting mergers lately including the MLSLI/HGMLS merger, but this one brings a whole new twist!
My Florida Regional MLS (MFRMLS) now offers services to the Puerto Rico Association of REALTORS®. This is a great testament to the idea that MLS/Association partnerships do not always have to live next door to make them viable. There is a lot of business cross-over between Puerto Rico and Florida, but they certainly are not contiguous! This merger also invites a whole new line of thinking. Associations can now choose to work with the MLS that matches them best in terms of culture, service offerings and support, regardless of where they are located.
I LOVE that our industry is getting more and more nimble and flexible and doing what it takes to support the needs of its members even if it means working with a progressive organization that is miles away from your own! I am proud to say that I helped My Florida Regional MLS get started many years ago. In those days the organization had about 32,000 members. Today it is up to 57,000 members thanks to the hard work and guts of the MFRMLS Board of Directors and staff.
Way to go Merri Jo Cowen and team!

My Florida Regional MLS (MFRMLS) announced today that the Puerto Rico Association of Realtors® (PRAR) has become their newest multiple listing service customer. The addition of PRAR comes as MFRMLS seeks to expand their service area outside of Central and Southwest Florida in an effort to create a larger, national presence.
“We are so excited to have PRAR join us,” said MFRMLS CEO, Merri Jo Cowen. “Not only is this a historical move for us as we add customers outside of Florida, but PRAR’s members now have access to the largest MLS in the state and a host of products and services to help them serve their clients!”
Founded in the early 1950’s, PRAR serves approximately 500 Realtor® members across four local boards. As Puerto Rico continues to become a sought-after locale for corporate relocation and growth, PRAR seeks to meet the needs of the real estate professionals who serve those corporations and their families.
Of the move to join MFRMLS, Association president Eddie López said, “We strongly believe this will help strengthen and grow our organization. Our country has been through a hard season, but we are committed to evolving with the times and becoming a better, more agile Association to the benefit of our members.”
