Sora, Gemini overpromises (again)Sora, Gemini overpromises (again)

Big announcements this week: the news that OpenAI is finally releasing Sora and Google was upgrading to Gemini 2.0 was everywhere. The problem is that the average agent doesn’t have access to any of the cool stuff being discussed.

Both are late to the party. The stunning Sora AI video platform was supposed to be “coming soon” since its February announcement. Those with a ChatGPT Plus ($20 monthly) or the newer ChatGPT Pro account ($200 monthly) were supposed to have access immediately, but we could not get in.

At first, Sora.com said it wouldn’t give us access because of “heavy traffic” and because it can’t give access to new accounts. We’ve been paying ChatGPT Plus subscribers since Feb. 2023!

However, we moved to ChatGPT Teams a few months ago and “upgraded” our account to $50 a month for the two of us – or $25 monthly. We switched to Teams for privacy reasons. Teams is gated: the information does not train ChatGPT.

Guess what? ChatGPT says Teams do not get access to Sora.

What??? So OpenAI is only giving Sora access to customers who pay less?

Meanwhile, those of us already paying OpenAI more are left in the cold unless we cough up another $20 a month?

This reeks of a Neanderthal marketing move: OpenAI is punishing their most loyal and invested customers.

It also feels like extortion, as we must pay another $20 monthly to access Sora.

And they have handcuffed us, as we would lose all of our Chats if we switched back to ChatGPT Plus because there’s an OpenAI Catch-22.

Although you can import all your Chats from ChatGPT Plus to Teams, you lose your entire Chat history if you go back to a ChatGPT Plus account to get access to Sora.

That’s a Catch-22 that ONLY benefits OpenAI. It’s a bizarre strategy that alienates their premium base. Can anyone explain the logic here? Or is this just a masterclass in how to drive customers away?

Googleland isn’t much better. Gemini 2.0 is a huge catchup to ChatGPT, with text-to-image and short video capabilities built-in. But again, these features are not yet available for the average user.

We are Gemini Advanced subscribers, and we don’t get access. Google tells us that the features that agents could actually benefit from are not coming to those paying $20 a month extra until later in 2025!

Sora and Gemini overpromise and underdeliver – again. When will AI companies stop playing PR games by announcing things before most folks can actually access them?!

We will cover how agents can benefit from both AI tools once they are available to the average real estate agent, but don’t hold your breath. (-Kevin)

AI Podcasts for the HolidaysAI Podcasts for the Holidays

Have you tried Google’s NotebookLM to create an instant Podcast? The results are stunning, and here’s a clever way to use it for the holidays – for your business and/or personal use: Create a podcast from your holiday newsletter, blog post, or client letter.

The result: You get a professionally produced audio podcast where two expert “hosts” – a male and female voice – banter about the information in your holiday communication.

You simply upload your content into NotebookLM, and this mighty Google AI machine does the rest. The hosts will analyze the information you provide and may augment it with additional information pulled from social media channels.

Your final Podcast sounds like one of those popular morning radio shows, but instead of talking about current events, they are conveying your holiday message and talking about you and your business.

NotebookLM is in Beta, so you only need a personal Google account (Gmail) to sign in and use. We used it for our family’s holiday “newsletter” this year, and the results are stunning. (-Kevin)
