Turn AI into your daily habitMake AI your daily habit

CoreLogic’s Clareity25 MLS confab in the Arizona desert, attended by many industry leaders, just concluded. But unlike most real estate conferences, AI never really took center stage. I’m sure it will when CoreLogic convenes its next meeting in San Diego – Camp CoreLogic for users – this June.

I have a guess as to why: most real estate leaders themselves don’t use AI. Those who do, don’t use AI every day. Most look at others on their staff to be their AI experts.

That starkly contrasts real estate agents who have made AI-related tech tools from Restb.ai, DirectOffer, Revive AI, Lundy, Canva, Ylopo, Scout, and many others a daily habit. The new 2025 Delta Media Real Estate AI Survey showed that 87% of brokers say their agents use AI – almost ubiquitous.

However, many real estate industry CEOs with whom I and my colleagues at WAV Group interact do not use AI.

This must stop.

Every real estate pro – top to bottom in every organization – needs to start using AI every single day.

Why? There are a dozen reasons, but the most important one isn’t just to increase efficiency and productivity. It is required to remain competitive.

Leaders shouldn’t ask others to do what they are not doing or haven’t done themselves.

Intentionally using AI every day is the only way to understand the good, the bad, and the ugly of AI. It is the only way to understand its possibilities. It is the only way to appreciate its potential dangers.

It takes a personal commitment to use AI daily, but only in the beginning. Install a paid version AI Chatbot like ChatGPT or Perplexity on your phone. Then, instead of going to Google to search, use the voice-to-text feature to get your questions answered faster and more completely, even with partial information.

Soon, you will not even think about the fact that you are using AI daily. It will become a habit, and you’ll never look back.

Commit to using AI once a week for a more complex project: summarizing a call transcription, calculating survey findings, and deciphering market report data into an executive summary. Pick a project and work your way through it. It’s the best – and quickest – way to learn how to use AI.

Despite its incredible potential, not counting the AI-powered tools in devices like your smartphone, few people intentionally use AI every day. Even ChatGPT, with 123.5 million users in the US, is used by less than 6% of Americans daily.

Leaders need to lead, and that means using AI every, single, day.

AI for criminal mindsAI for criminal minds

One of my favorite annual sessions at Clareity is the one on data security. Founded by the legendary Gregg Larson (officially retiring from the company he sold to CoreLogic), the name Clareity is synonymous with real estate security.

Last year’s Clareity conference had a stellar security panel. This year, Neal O’Farrell gave a keynote speech and participated in a panel discussion about AI and security.

This Irishman has been fighting cybercrime and fraud worldwide for nearly 40 years with partners like Microsoft, Cisco, AT&T, McAfee, and DHS.

He spoke plainly about how criminals are using AI, including:

  • Criminals are using AI to create fake identities that look 100% real. These synthetic identities have fake jobs, fake credit histories, and even fake social media accounts. Banks, employers, and even governments are falling for them.
  • AI can write phishing emails so perfectly – without typos or weird phrasing. It can even adjust them to sound exactly like the person you trust most – your boss, grandmother, or bank.
  • AI can now clone voices so well that people are getting tricked into wiring money to scammers who sound exactly like their family members or business partners.
  • Hackers are using AI to crack passwords faster than ever, even breaking security systems that used to be hard to crack.
  • AI is designed to take advantage of how humans think. It knows we rush to click things, trust familiar names, and react emotionally. Criminals are using that to make scams more believable.
  • Instead of one scammer working hard to trick people, AI allows criminals to run scams on a massive scale. That’s why fraud and hacking are exploding.
  • AI can beat CAPTCHA tests, crack security questions, and trick two-factor authentication. What used to be a good defense is quickly becoming outdated.

It was tough sleeping at night after Neal’s talk! (-Kevin)
