On June 24th, 2011, the Greater Tulsa Association of REALTORS announced that their CEO Al J. Unser will retire on June 30, 2011, after 20 years with the association. Mike Cotrill, GTAR’s chief operating officer, will succeed Unser as CEO at that time.
Unser joined GTAR in 1991, after having served as chief executive officer with four other REALTOR® associations since 1975. During his time at GTAR, Unser served a term as chairman of the Metro Tulsa Citizens Crime Commission, and served seven consecutive one-year terms on the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce board of directors. Unser is currently a member of the Transportation Advisory Board for the City of Tulsa serving as chairman of the Transit Committee. Before entering the real estate industry, Unser was a Naval Aviator for the U.S. Marine Corp; he flew 720 combat missions in Vietnam, and attained the rank of captain.
Cotrill joined GTAR in 2005, as chief operating officer. During his time with the association, Cotrill obtained the REALTOR® Association Certified Executive (RCE) designation. Cotrill earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The University of Oklahoma. Having focused his studies on real estate, Cotrill began his career in real estate as a licensed real estate sales associate and appraiser in the state of Oklahoma, and eventually obtained his Oklahoma Real Estate Broker’s license. As a licensed broker and appraiser in the Tulsa area, Mike specialized in residential foreclosure properties.
