woman in living orom looking at tablet with widgets on screen If you have not taken a look at Flexmls lately, then you may not recall the custom dashboard feature of this MLS system. With Flexmls, logged-in-users see a dashboard organized in squares called widgets. If you are familiar with Google Desktop’s dashboard concept, or perhaps the arrangement of apps on your phone or tablet, widgets can be added or removed according to user preferences.

Custom dashboards are great for real estate platforms like MLS systems. Unfortunately, since CoreLogic deprecated their brokerage platform, AgentAchieve, broker platforms are missing out on custom dashboards. In Flexmls, real estate agents automatically see the default dashboard created by their MLS. Typically, these are well laid out. Most importantly, they include messages from the MLS in the upper right-hand corner. If you customize your Flexmls dashboard, be sure to keep the MLS messages as one of your widgets. This is the primary communication conduit of the MLS to its participants and subscribers. This is where you will be informed about system updates, rule changes, new features, new products offered though the MLS, and hopefully find invites to events that allow you to network in your real estate community with gatherings.

In our experience with agent satisfaction surveys, the top widget for agents in any MLS is the hot sheet. It provides agents with a quick glance of listings updates that matter the most to the agent. The second most popular widget is the quick search that allows the agent to rapidly find a listing detail page. From there, usage varies. Agents using the client portal to notify customers about new listings that match their search criteria will find that widget to be handy on the dashboard. If the agent uses their own CRM or broker/franchise CRM for managing client alerts and communications, then this widget is not very helpful.
