Impact of the WolfNet Pipeline

There is a silent battle going on in real estate search. As consumers visit multiple websites and have numerous searches saved, the website that delivers the first alert to the consumer gets the click. All subsequent alerts from other sites are rendered as old news: they’re unread and deleted. It’s only natural. Today, WolfNet announced a new service level of managing IDX data optimized for speed called Pipeline.

MLS Fair Input Guidelines

Mitch Skinner of the law firm, Larson Skinner did a wonderful post on their website that drafted a framework around MLS Fair Input Guidelines. This is a major topic for our nation’s MLSs and it is time for collaboration and thought leadership. Let me begin by complimenting Skinner on his efforts. If you have not seen the post, you may want to buzz over and look at A Conversation About Fair Input Guidelines before contemplating this article. My hope is that this will be on the agenda at the upcoming fall conference of the Council of MLS in Orlando, hosted by My Florida Regional MLS.

MLS of Choice is in Effect! Now What? A Poll

Effective July 1, 2018, a licensee may subscribe to the MLS of his or her choosing, providing their broker participates in that MLS too. Under this new policy, the MLS must offer no-cost waivers to licensees who currently subscribe to another MLS.

Moxiworks Refutes Compass’ Claims Regarding Technology and Market Share

Wow, just saw this and just HAD to comment. It’s rare that we see brokers go at each other so publicly about their competitive claims, but I have to say this letter is pretty interesting. The real estate industry is rife with hyperbole and marketing claims. Our industry’s preference of opinion over fact is one of the main reasons I started a research practice within WAV Group. The birth of business intelligence is allowing brokerages new ways to substantiate or refute claims like the article from Moxiworks shown below. Moxiworks is using MLS data married with BI tools to refute [...]

You Can Beat the National Portals With This Strategy Today

Imagine a world where every real estate agent, broker and franchise in the nation promoted their real estate mobile app to consumers. The app is white-label branded to the agent, broker, and franchise offering direct access to every MLS listing without any competitive ads. That is the way it would need to work. Guess what, we have it. You have it. Our industry has it. Today.

MLS Terms of Use Changes and Copyright FAQ

This post is the result of a collaborative effort amongst the Council of Multiple Listing Services, The Realty Alliance, The National Association of REALTORS®, and Larson Skinner PLLC.  Many MLSs have been making changes to the way they file copyright applications and their MLS terms of use. Those changes have raised some questions from participants and subscribers. This FAQ is intended to answer some of those questions and emphasize that the MLSs are not forcing participants or subscribers to give up ownership of listing content.
