CoreLogic Marketlinx publishing InfoNet Licensing partners

The places one finds business intelligence these days….. Twitter! If you follow@marketlinxnews on twitter, you will see their rather casual announcements of each instance that an MLS or Association enters into a licensing agreement for InfoNet.InfoNet is CoreLogic’s data licensing program whereby they license active listing content from MLSs (and pay them for it) then sell access to the data via their AVM products to the federal government, banks, freddie, fannie, insurance companies and the like. Their only competitor in this marketplace is NAR’s subsidary, the Realtor Property Resource. They also build an AVM called the RVM (Realtor Valuation Model) [...]

WAV Group Property Indexing White Paper

WAV Group is proud to release this property indexing white paper to explain NAR’s policy on indexing listings. The paper provides an overview of indexing, the process used by search engines to catalog information on the internet. Click the image to download the paper for free. In order for MLSs to enforce IDX rules and regulations, they must understand indexing. Furthermore, anyone operating an IDX website needs to understand indexing and the advantages that it offers to search engine optimization and online competition. Non-IDX property search websites like Trulia, realtor.com and others have been indexing listings for years, and as [...]

How about a new real estate organization to separate the wheat from the chaff?

Lani Rosales at Agent Genius.com wrote an interesting article about whether there are too many REALTORS in the market at this point. While I understand why many would suggest that the market may, in fact, be oversaturated, I would argue that NAR serves a valuable purpose as a political organization. The more members, the more influence.  There’s nothing wrong with its role as THE advocate for the real estate industry. Instead of trying to revamp NAR, I would love to see a new organization meant only for top producers and  highly trained professionals new to the industry. The entry stakes would be [...]

MOVE, operators of Realtor.com, Acquires Threewide Listhub

In a MOVE that is sure to improve listing syndication to third party websites, MOVE, Inc has aquired Threewide, the operators of the popular ListHub product which syndicates listings to their party websites like Trulia and Zillow for customers like MLSs, Brokers, Franchises, etc. If you saw the MOVE announcement last week whereby their contract with NAR regarding Listing Syndication needed to be amended, you can appreciate just how tight the relationship is between MOVE and NAR. There is very little that MOVE can do without NAR’s blessing and approval. Everyone should be proud that NAR takes Broker Listing Content so [...]

New Ways to Leverage MLS Data

It is an exciting time for Multiple Listing Services.  The announcement of REALTOR® Property Resource by NAR has spawned many debates and several new programs allowing MLSs to leverage local property information in many new ways.  The programs are exciting, but are evolving quickly and thus can be a bit confusing and even overwhelming at times. In an effort to help every MLS understand the unique values of each of the programs now available, the Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS), commissioned WAV Group to complete the attached evaluation.  Ideally, the paper will assist each MLS and their governing boards [...]
